CLIMATE CHANGE AND INDIGENOUS RESILIENCE IN PERÙ

The speculative activity of men and the strong consequences of climatic evolution in Peru threatens the fragile equilibrium of the country. If, on the one hand, illegal activities related to gold mining, deforestation and drug trafficking threaten the entire biodiversity of the Amazon and the survival of indigenous communities that are highly dependent on natural resources, climate change is already a reality in the Andean region and on the coast.

The increase in temperature at high altitudes causes great damage to alpaca farms, with negative consequences on the fragile communities of alpaqueros who live close to the cordillera; on the coast, the increasingly muggy and humid climate takes its toll with the spread of the Dengue epidemic, leading the authorities to declare a state of emergency
